This piece is a short video posted by Morgan Higby-Flowers showing different old TV and computer screens “glitching.” This is an example of “glitch” art because the whole point of this piece is for it to seem off. Something about the setup in the video seems broken and glitched. There’s something extremely creepy and ominous about this piece, like something from a horror movie. This is especially fascinating to me because we live in the age of the HD and LED screens that operate differently than older television and computer screens, and to me they seem more mysterious. The idea of taking something from normal life and making them broken in some way is really interesting to me, and I think that could be applied to my future work.
