These are just a few works that I chose from Carl Burton’s Gif Set 3. I love how he captures the smallest movements in these animations and they transport me to a different time and place. They all feel so eerie and quiet, and each piece is different yet cohesive to the whole. I think I was drawn to these pieces because they’re so creepy. Everything seems so desolate, like these were videos taken after the human race is destroyed. The simplicity of the designs packs a punch and I would use that tactic in my own work, because I tend to add a bunch of stuff because I want there to be a lot of things to look at. Burton, however, has created complex meanings from simple scenes and visuals.
